1. Form a routine

Remote work gives you the option of working from your comfort zone, but it is important that while working from home, we have certain routines like we would at a workplace. Now they don’t have to be mapped bit by bit, but waking up at least an hour before work, working out or meditating to get into the work mood, setting aside your work during designated break time, and while working completely focusing on it. Keeping aside some time for leisure post-work hours and having a healthy sleep cycle. All of this must be made into a daily routine, so as to maximize productivity.

3. Maintain Contact with your Team

Even if you do not require to report to someone, make sure you give updates about your work and stay connected with your colleagues. Discuss work and how it can be improved. Part of working remotely is constantly engaging with the technology around you. It’s important to keep yourself up to date with the latest advancements in the software and apps you regularly use. Use the technology to your advantage by getting your work done better and faster. Whether it is zoom or excel, make sure you know the best ways to work with them!

5. Keeping aside time for leisure

As mentioned earlier, it is important to have some free time for ourselves in our routines. Working all the time may become too monotonous and may saturate you. Keeping aside spare time will help you get refreshed and ready for the next day. It is ideal to set free time for after your work ends, so as for it to not be a distraction. You can watch movies, read, cook, engage with your family, or do anything that will help you get off your work mode and give yourself time to chill.

6. Restrict your phone usage

While it may be required to carry out certain work-related tasks, it is necessary to ensure that it does not eat up our time. Social media can have a never-ending usage. It is recommended that you disable your social media apps or mute notifications from them while you are working, and only use it to check important text messages or to answer work-related calls. You can check your social media during your break or leisure time to stay updated!

7. Set deadlines

Remote working may often tempt us to procrastinate and push our work to be completed later. This will disturb your routine and pile up work. It is essential to set deadlines and make sure they are met, so as to ensure that the work for the day is done and you won’t have to stay up because of unfinished work. Set goals for yourself, that are achievable and maintain the routine as much as possible.
