Kota is a well-known city located in the southern-eastern part of Rajasthan, along the eastern bank of the Chambal river. It is the third-largest and most populous city after Jaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan. This city is famous for its history of art and culture. The carved paintings, magnificent forts, and monuments are an added beauty to the glory of Kota. Moreover, It is the educational hub for students who are aspirants to various competitive and government exams. With the growing number of opportunities and for the rich diversity in culture, Kota is one of the best cities to live in.

Well, in terms of the cost of living in Kota, it’s not that expensive nor that cheap. It depends on your budget, lifestyle, and expenses, basically how you want to spend on your living.

Especially, Kota is the land of coaching institutes and various educational institutes, so students and aspirants flock from different parts of the country and because of that, the demand for houses is more in this area which results in the increasing demand of rental rates. But it depends on the area and locality wise. There are some areas like Electronic Complex, Vigyan Nagar, and new Rajiv Gandhi Nagar where you can get good PGs and hostels at very affordable rates. Pgs rates will range from Rs. 3000 -5000, whereas some hostel’s and pgs charges range from Rs. 9,000 to 12,000. whereas, there are places like Indra Nagar and Rajeev Gandhi old and new Nagar where the hostel rates will be from Rs. 7000 to 10,000. and the PG’s range will from Rs. 3000 to 6000. The cost of living in Kota is manageable as compared with different cities in India

2. Transport

Well, in your daily life you will be dependent on transport facilities for your commute in the city. So, in Kota, the transport facilities include buses, autos, vans, etc. Especially if you are a student then do prefer vans and buses to commute within the town because here autos rates are at a higher-end. If you are a daily commuter then your minimum expenses will be minimum  Rs. 250- 1000 within the city. Apart from all these, there are Ola, Uber, etc for daily travel. It’s pretty much affordable and won’t be heavy in your pockets.

Again it depends if you staying in your own house or pgs and the hostels. For pgs and hostels, the utilities are anyhow taken care of by your pgs and hostel’s owners. Basic utility things will include your electricity, Cable, DTH, Internet, etc. These are anyhow taken with your rental charges. But for students staying outside, depending upon the usage, utility expenses will range from Rs. 500-5000.

Here, the local markets are a craze among people for shopping. Kota Doria sarees, jewelry, handbags, and footwear are readily available in local shops at very cheap and affordable rates. Places like Gumanpura, Indira Market, Talwandi, and Dadabari where you can find all the varieties of ladies jewelry to accessories, etc. at very cheap rates. If you are looking for good brands for shopping then surely do visit malls such as City Mall, Central Square Mall, and Cinemall, etc.
